Not Blind

Not Blind

Don't  want to be blind to the black
Blind to the white
Blind to sizes that fit people right

I want to see
To celebrate
The bony
The curvy
Those whose dress unnerves me

Don't want to be deaf
To thoughts that test me
Words that arrest me

Don't want to grow hard
To feelings that caress me
Conversations that bless me
Or Friendships that imbibe
What is inside me
The kind that don't hide me
In image and taste
All generated
By passing fashion that is hip
Until it is old
Unless federated by those who scold
The too....

Yes, the ...   too
The too tall
Too bright
The too round
Too light
Those who wear their pants too low
Or maybe too tight

Got to see differences as real
Homogenation steals
The diversity
Birthed in divinity
Displayed in dignity

From He

Who never saw beauty
As a one size fits all
Or one color for all
Or as a commodity
Purchased at the mall

To see differences as ugly
Is to be identified with the Fall
Truly the saddest blindness of them all!
