The Me's in Me
Could have been one percenter
With a formidable patch
Could have been a Saint
Giving the Gospel my last
Could have done business
Selling diesel cars or gas
Could have been a professor
Teaching a class
The choices we make
Determine the path we take
Walking in riches or
Burned at the stake
The generation we live
Determined by God above
Whatever the vocation
It can be walked in Love
What you do
Isn't all of you
The way you do it
Doesn't tell the whole story either
We are all passing through
This human theater
Attention to intention
Satisfies modern convention
But life is more than
Acts of the heart
It is often keeping a vow
Instead of making a new start
Thinking one generation at a time
Is a luxury purchased by
Grandparents and parents
In the past
Living for others
They prayed
Peace would last
Living vicariously
From the opportunities
Of our progeny
Is not a cop out or a sin
It is fruit from the place
Where our faith did begin
Could have been
Many things in this life of mine
The value of my life
Will be determined
At the end of time
Capenter
Lawyer
Janitor with a mop
All will be judged
When the final
Mic drops
